I Don’t Know What’s Going On is a collection of writers who give their thoughts on the top trending googles of the day. We use this as an exercise for writing as well as keeping up with current events. Hopefully, you readers like it too.
How to Read a Post
We authors are going to write as if you know the context of the search. This makes the posts feel more like a conversation than a news outlet.
Each post will contain the writing of each of the authors. Whether separated into columns or headings, each writer will give their two cents on the topics.
Methodology
To find the day’s trending searches, we use Google Trends. Through the Trending now feature, we filter searches by these requirements:
- United States
- Past 24 hours
- All categories
- All trends
- By search volume
- Note – we tried to filter by Relevance, but it seemed very timely. Even down to the hour.
We comment on the top three searches from these filters. In striving for consistency, we try to collect the recent trends daily at 1:00 PM MST. But post times may vary with the authors schedules.
If all of an items search volume was in the previous day, or was already covered in the previous day’s post, we may strike it from the list and move on to the fourth or fifth options, for example:

mostly from yesterday- a top search
- breaking news
